Euthanasia
Do people have the right to end their lives if terminally ill?
Committing murder or killing someone might be a bad thing to do, but killing someone by the means of Euthanasia is a completely different thing, therefore it is not something bad. Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. Although euthanasia is illegal in most countries, I strongly think that if people want to end their lives to stop suffering it is okay. My reasons for being in favor of euthanasia come from existentialism. As an existentialist philosopher I have always been in favor of euthanasia. Existentialist are obsessed with how to live one's life and believe that philosophical and psychological inquiry can help, if people suffer too much because of an incurable disease or something painful I think that the best way to end their suffering would be means of euthanasia. Another important argument about existentialist is that we don’t pay much attention to "social" questions such as the politics of life and what "social" responsibility the society or state has. They focus almost exclusively on the individual, so I don’t care what people might think about the practice of euthanasia but I care about each individual person and their well-being. We focus on individual existence and the "existential" struggles (that is, in making decisions that are meaningful in everyday life), so if someone takes a decision to end their lives to relieve extreme pain I think that nobody should disallow them to do so. One of our most important priorities as existentialist is freedom of choice so it is important to remember that the practice of euthanasia can’t go against the free-will of a person, if the patient suffering decides he or she wants to die then it is okay, but if the person doesn’t want to be “medically killed” his/her decision must be respected. There are some exceptions like when the patient is in comma and can’t take decisions for himself.

I agree with this Fabiola beacuse i as an existentialist agree that every person has the right to decide for him or herself regarding the opinion of others.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Fabiola because it’s useless for a person that is in excruciating pain to live a life that will no longer be pleasurable, but instead will be of pure suffering.
