War: One of the worst ways to resolve conflicts

Since the earliest of days, humans have resorted to war as their primary method to deal with conflicts. Now in the 21st century, the tendency to solve conflicts through war has not decreased at all, it has actually become worst, the capability for mass destruction nowadays is really frightening. The fear of mass destruction is certainly one of the points of why many argue against war, but why is war really such a huge problem? It is necessary to seek more into the human factor of war to see why it is such a problem for mankind. War has been one of the main causes of human deaths in the last 100 years, millions died between World War I and World War II, Vietnam, The Gulf War, Iraq, Aghanistan and other conflicts that have risen in recent years have also been culprits in taking human lives. I really don't see why politicians send the young men of the nation to die, why are they sent to fight for causes they probably don't belive in or by problems they did not create? It just seems senseless. "Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die", this is a quote that is very true, I really question older politicians methods, by sending our youth out to die, we damage the human race, but how so? Well there are various factors, but the most important of them are that in war, valubale citizens who contribute to the country for good reasons are killed off and also many families lose the most important member and that causes instability in homes, especially if the family has children. It is important to point out that death is not the only damagin effect war has on mankind. One has to think about the survivors of war as well, most people who do survive conflict are never the same again, some can have mental problems or disorders based on trauma, others might be permanently scarred because of the atrocities they might have seen, while in some extreme cases the trauma of war can lead soldiers to suicide. When you think about war and it's consequences in a thorough manner, do you think it is really a good way to solve conflicts? Is it necessary to do so much damage to human beings just to solve a problem and reach a resolution? The answer is no, human life should NEVER be used as a bargaining chip in conflicts.

  1. I disagree with you, Dawkings. I believe that war should be permitted only if it is in defense of the state. There has always been wars and there will always be war to resolve conflicts! (Socrates)
