Treatment of Animals
I was widely known as the early proponents of animal rights, this is a very important topic for me, therefore I strongly think that animals should be treated like humans do and it is not right to do animal testing and it is not ethic to eat animal meat. One of my main arguments was that animal pain is like human pain, the fact they are not human doesn’t mean they don’t suffer. I always said that “ the day would come when animals will acquire those rights which never could have been witholden from them but by the hand of tyranny." I think that the ability to suffer and not the ability to reason is the key of what I call the insuperable line. The insuperable line sets the standards on how we how we treat other beings. If the ability to reason was the basis of how we treat others then babies and even disable people would be treated as if they were things. The question is not if they can reason or they can talk but can they suffer? Animals should be granted with the same rights and considerations as humans, and we should take animals for granted. I am completely against doing test with animals because animals might suffer and they might feel pain, it is unethical to make animals suffer, remember they also feel pain. I am against the eating of meat because this requires the death of animals and then again I am against the killing of animals. I am in favor of animal liberation which is a human that seeks distinction between non human and humans and protect the rights of non human beings.
I also believe that animals should be treated with respect. They are also living beings like ourselves and should not be abused nor used in dangerous experimental tests. Animal testing is not right. I fully support animals!
