Death for the greater good

Death Penalty (Does the state have the right to kill another person?)
My name is John Stuart Mill and am considered a utilitarian philosopher that believes in a greater good for a greater number of people. If the state had the right to kill another person I would agree with them. I would kill that person if and only if the person is guilty of destroying the society harmony and well being because I am looking for a greater good and to maintain a stable society. Also, I would kill him or her because he or she is altering the stableness in society. An example is that if a man comes and kills a family, the society would live concerned about the people that are out there. I always think that an individual rights are a component of justice, that not all pleasures are equal recommended that some opinions are better than others. Also, it is no fair that he would have the opportunity to still live knowing that he is a killer and making people feel insecure and that he just wants to do bad to society. I also believed that educated people have more experience to say what are the fairest reasons and also educated people have more liberty to kill because they give more benefits to society. This is the main reason why those type of people need to be eliminated from society. “Utilitarians reasoned that in trying to maximize their profits, or units of pleasure, capitalists would aim to make the best and most efficient use of resources, something that would benefit society.” In these cases of death penalty is when the educated minority should have the greater say in determining social policies. Although, equality is an aspect of justice.

  1. I agree with Mill's position about death penalty. Any individual that alters the stability of our society should be strongly punished, specially if he has committed inmoral acts. This will be the solution to many problems in society and will end to an endless chain of injustice. The death of one person can be the greater good for a whole.

  2. i also agree with what Mill expresses about death penalty because i believe that everyone who has made something unethical should be punished. a whole community could be saffer since the lives of many are more than the life of just one individual!
