I was alive when World War I occured and by no means did I ever agree with it. I never took a side, instead I condemed both sides. I was put in jail beacuase of my position and I couldnt keep my job in Cambridge. During my time in jail I wrote some books about mi ideals. In my opinion the methods that were being used to reach comunism were unacceptable and the results obtained were not worth everything that was happening. I was a pacifist and I was a founder memeber of Union of Democratic Control, which was the most important anti-war organizations. I also stongly opposed to the Vietnam War. I also established the International War Crimes Tribunal.
War can bring many evils such as the death of many men, economic problems and most important hatred between people. There are four kinds of war: Wars of colonization, wars of principle, war of self-defence and wars of prestige. I think the first and second wars can be often justified, though they are unlikely to happen now, because they occured mostly in the past. The third one can be sometimes justified, except when its againts an inferior civilization, but the fourth one never can be justified. Most of the wars occuring these day are due to prestige. When countries are engaged in war, they always find excuses to justify their actions, but the truth is that war only brings negative situations for the world. Like I've always said, "war does not determine who is right- only who is left."
-Bertrand Russell (Melissa Murillo)
I agree with Bertrand Russell on the fact that nothing positive results from having a war other than the satisfaction on being right on an issue by winning the war. War does indeed bring disorders, caos and calamities. The world doesn't need war!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bertrand Russel and Claudeth. The world has proven us that under the demands of war we can only expect atrocities and destruction. War shouldn’t even be the last resort for solving disputes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bertrand Russel, Claudeth and Ale..way is never the solution it only bring with it self death of innocent lives.
