Lying, Cheating and Stealing: Unethical Acts

In my opinion lying, cheating or stealing are not ethical acts or decisions, they all go against the virtue of honesty. We all like and love sincerity; these acts are totally against ethics. So, this will separate us from the virtue resulting in a lack of harmony with all the people around us: if you cheat, or steal and never say the truth, you will be a person unfair with yourself and others because you have a conscience that stops us from the bad, which you cannot deceive. You will not like to leave in a society where everybody lies, cheats or steal. So, if you don’t like this to be done to you, do not do it to others (The Golden Rule: do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself). The fact of committing those unethical acts goes against justice, since those are unfair for the person itself and for the victim. For example when cheating, it’s not fair for the cheater to receive a grade which he does not deserve and at the same time, the cheater is losing the opportunity of acquiring a good education, since knowledge is a privilege for any human being. Many problems in the world have been caused by lying about the honor and reputation of many people, causing fanaticism and going against the virtue of honesty. Taking somebody else’s possessions also affects our society and deprives us from being a person that others can trust. To avoid these behaviors we need to educate the human being emphasizing personal and governmental morality, so justice and sincerity can be practiced in all social relationships. To achieve this goal we need to find virtuous leaders that can create a society with true values and a better moral practice.

  2. I am in favor of what Maria said because we can’t live in a world surrounded by liars, cheaters o thieves. All of these types of people go against the virtue of honesty which is very important now in day. Honest people are the ones who always succeed and gain confidence of others. Sometimes these unethical acts make society harder to advance. Many problems the world has now days are because of people who steal, lie and cheat. Everybody should start thinking for themselves and think that they want to live in a society of peace and full of honest people in order to easily succeed without any problems.

  3. I agree with Maria Judith because we would live in a totally different world if we would have presidents who cheat, lie, or are thieves. No matter what, we know we will always are going to know people who are like these, because they don't have no matter to be like that. Everybody learns from their mistakes, and sometimes even benefit from them. In the society we live in people need to learn bad things to survive in the world we live in.
